Introduction to the Tomorrow’s Schools Review

The survey is now closed.

As part of the national Education Conversation | Kōrero Mātauranga, the Government is reviewing Tomorrow’s Schools – the name given to the reforms that changed the governance, management and administration of our schools nearly 30 years ago.

An Independent Taskforce was appointed to lead the review and report back to the Minister of Education in November 2018.

Over five months, the Taskforce had over 200 meetings around the country, 2,274 people completed the online surveys, 94 formal submissions were received, and there were 319 comments on social media posts. They also met with education spokespeople from all political parties.

A cross-sector advisory panel advised the Independent Taskforce on the strengths and challenges of the current system, the changes required to ensure equity and excellence for all children and young people, and how potential changes would work in practice and impact on those that have been under-served by the current system.
