We propose enabling the Education Review Office (ERO) to review professional learning and development (PLD) accessed by schools, kura and early learning services.
High quality PLD is important to strengthen teaching and learning. Some mechanisms exist to quality assure the provision of PLD, but we do not have a clear, system level view about its quality and its impact on education leadership, teaching practice or learner outcomes.
We believe that having ERO doing systematic reviews of PLD could improve understanding about its quality and impact, and that this information will support its continuous improvement.
