Home About

Thank you to all of you who attended a fono in September/October 2019 or contributed feedback online. We are now working through all this feedback and will publish summaries from each fono online as they are completed.

What communities have shared with us continues to shape the wider work in education and change the way the Ministry of Education works with Pacific families and communities. We have already started investing in Pacific Education through the $27.4 million Pacific Budget Package 2019.

If you would like to access the materials that were used at the 2019 fono, they are available here:

Fono Activity One

Last year we heard from thousands of Pacific learners and families about what is important to them in education. This activity outlines the five proposed changes we think we need to make and poses some questions about these.

Fono Activity Two

We need to change the Education System’s definition of success to reflect our Pacific people’s diverse dreams and goals. When we asked Pacific communities what success in education looks like for them, they told us the following things. At the fono, attendees discussed as a group some of the most important indicators of success.
