Home About Out and About Events

Early learning services, parents, educators, whānau and the wider public were asked for their feedback on possible changes through a series of hui and targeted meetings, as well as two online surveys.

Consultation closed on 30 September 2018.  The feedback received is being carefully considered, and decisions are expected in the coming months.

Regional hui for service providers

We held seven meetings in the following six centres across New Zealand: Auckland (Central and South), Tauranga, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. Overall, around 450 people attended the hui. We also engaged with home-based services via video conference in the following regions where hui were not held: Whangarei, Taupō, Kaitaia, Nelson/Blenheim, and Napier.

Targeted meetings aimed at gathering feedback from educators

We talked to around 300 educators, visiting teachers and providers at evening targeted meetings. We spoke to educators and providers who provide home-based ECE to Māori and Pacific families. We heard from diverse groups of language immersion services, including Somali, Afghani, Chinese and Russian.

Online survey and submissions

The short online survey was aimed at parents and educators and focused on areas of the Review that would most affect these groups. We received around 1700 responses.

We also received around 250 detailed submissions.
