A review of home-based early childhood education (ECE) is underway, to ensure that it delivers quality education and care for children.

The review will look at a range of areas which are known to support quality early learning.  This includes qualification requirements for educators, the role of the coordinator (visiting teacher), the curriculum, and health and safety. Other areas that will also be looked at include employment conditions for educators, funding transparency and out of school care.

Educators can include nannies, au pairs, home-based educators, and grandparents or other relatives.

This review is taking place at the same time as the development of the Early Learning Strategic Plan, and will be closely connected to it and the broader Education Conversation
