The third and final phase of the evaluation of the implementation of the first tranche of Learning Support Coordinators (LSCs) is available.

Key findings from the Phase 3 evaluation are that:

  • The implementation of the LSC role has gone well for most schools, kura and LSCs. The role is well established, working as intended and generating the initial outcomes expected. It has provided the learning support clusters in which they work with much needed expertise and capacity for learning support.
  • LSCs are delivering well on most functions identified in the role description, although the role is being implemented differently depending on the context of each cluster.
  • Collaborative endeavour across clusters is impacted by factors such as cluster leadership and facilitation from regional Ministry offices.
  • There are opportunities to work with Māori to refine the design and operational settings of the LSC role for Māori medium.
