The government wants our education system to focus on success for all students, including all Māori.
During 2018, we held a series of wānanga throughout Aotearoa to find out what’s important to Māori in education; what we value about what we have; what we want to change and how we would change it to ensure even greater success for all Māori in education, life and employment.
The insights and information gathered from these wānanga will inform our work to refresh and update Ka Hikitia (the Māori Education Strategy) and Tau Mai Te Reo (the Māori Language in Education Strategy). It will also inform change to increase success for Māori across the education system.
Regional summary reports, and an overall report, of what people told us, will be available between February and March 2019 on this site.
