Home About Out and About

This year, for the first time, all students in tertiary education are now covered by the Interim Code of Pastoral Care for Domestic Tertiary Students.

This means all students are protected, respected and accepted in tertiary education, whatever their age, stage, place or type of learning.

We are currently developing a new Code of Pastoral Care to replace the Interim Code which has been extended to 1 January 2022.

The Minister wants to ensure that many diverse voices, especially students, and also parents and whānau, iwi, sector groups, disabled people and other voices not usually heard are involved in shaping what will become a more enduring Code.
